United Auto Workers, Back to the Basics

In the world of Unions, especially the United States, private business has taken a disproportionate power over unions. Only 9% of private business is now union. This has created a great debate among unions, specifically the argument about organizing vs. political donations; however, despite the United Auto Worker’s (UAW) troubles with GM and Ford, PPG has recently been unionized by the UAW. Additionally, another PPG plant will vote this Wednesday for representation. This was mainly caused by a new plan at the PPG’s Lima plant where workers were being replaced by part timers. This will be followed closely.
